Description
The purpose of this acquisition is to obtain original equipment manufacturer (OEM) repair and on-site service for an InSight X3 DualC laser system, a critical component of an NIH-owned microscope. The system is currently non-operational, resulting in halted experiments and disruption to active research studies. The requested services will restore the laser system to full operational status in accordance with OEM factory specifications. A field service technician supporting the DC/MD/VA region will perform on-site uninstallation, packing, and preparation of the laser system for shipment to the OEM factory. At the same visit, the technician will install a loaner laser system to maintain research continuity. Following completion of repairs (estimated 2–3 months), the repaired system will be shipped back to NIH, and a field technician will return on-site to remove the loaner unit and reinstall the repaired laser. The scope of work includes all required labor, packing, crating, shipping (to and from the OEM facility), and travel. Shipping will be fully insured by the vendor, who will be responsible for the equipment during packing, transport, and repair, including liability for any damage up to and including full replacement of the system. All travel associated with this service shall comply with Federal travel regulations, and costs shall not exceed Government-approved rates for airfare and per diem. This acquisition is structured as a fixed-price service to cover the complete repair and service process, including all labor and logistics required to restore the system and maintain interim operational capability through the provision of a loaner unit.
