The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) has a requirement at the Long Beach VA Medical Center, located at 5901 E 7th Street, Long Beach, CA 90822, for fuel filtering/tank cleaning & lab testing for (15) Underground Fuel Storage Tanks (STU). STATEMENT OF WORK Fuel Filtering/Tank Cleaning & Lab Testing for Fifteen (15) Underground Fuel Storage Tanks. 1. Background: The Long Beach VA Healthcare System requires a qualified contractor to perform fuel filtering/tank cleaning and lab testing. The underground fuel storage tanks contain fuel for the emergency generators which provide power for each building throughout the medical center when normal power is interrupted. Tanks must be kept free from debris and water in order to operate the emergency generators safely and properly. All emergency generators depend on the fuel in these underground fuel storage tanks. The availability of reliable emergency power in the event of normal power is imperative to the care of critically ill patients, especially those on life support. Filtration ensures a clean dependable fuel source for the operation of the emergency generators. 2.
