Description
USGS EROS Annual Maintenance Services for Kongsberg Wide-band Demodulators and Test Generators The U.S. Geological Survey, EROS Center, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has a requirement for renewal of maintenance and on-call phone and email support for seven (7) Kongsberg demodulators to ensure continuous, optimal performance. Services shall include software, firmware, and patch updates, and technical support as needed. The Period of Performance will be from 10/05/2026 through 10/04/2031. The USGS is aware of no other source that can provide the above. Therefore, it intends to make an award to Kongsberg Aerospace & Defense, unless it is contacted by any who believes they have obtained similar technical expertise and can provide the same service. Vendors are invited to contact the Contract Specialist, Miranda Blankenship via email at Miranda_blankenship@ios.doi.gov no later than 12:00PM EST, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, with an affirmative answer. Sole Source Justification States the Following Part: The Department of the Interior, United States Geological Survey (USGS), EROS Data Center plans to award a five-year maintenance contract to Kongsberg Aerospace & Defense to provide maintenance and on-call phone and email support for seven (7) Kongsberg wideband demodulators. The proposed action may be awarded on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) ¿ only one source reasonably available. As the original manufacturer of the demodulators, Kongsberg Aerospace & Defense possess unique technical knowledge and proprietary design details used for maintaining these assets. Kongsberg Aerospace & Defense is the only source with the proprietary capability to offer software, firmware, and patch updates, and technical support for Kongsberg wide-band demodulators and test generators. The USGS will continue to review opportunities to increase competition by monitoring industry capabilities and engaging with potential vendors through market research. Should USGS determine new demodulators be needed, or if the current demodulators become unsupportable, USGS will compete full and open.
