Description
***Amendment 3*** Answer questions that have been asked. Q1: Please confirm the type and thickness of insulation desired for the existing storage tank. A1: 1” fiberglass pipe and tank wrap. Q2: The SOW mentions replacing the existing heat exchangers with “equivalent (or larger if required)” and that they should be capable of maintaining 160-degree water in the 2,000-gallon tank. To determine if equivalent heaters will be sufficient or if larger heaters are required, please provide the design load requirements, typically expressed as gallons per minute at a specified heat rise. A2: 308 gallons per load spread across all the washers. Q3: The SOW states “all hot water lines will be insulated.” Please confirm whether this requirement pertains only to piping removed and reinstalled as part of the heater replacement scope, or if additional insulation is required on existing-to-remain piping. If additional insulation is required, please provide approximate piping sizes and linear footage for bidding purposes. A3: Insulate all lines that are installed by contractor. Q4: Please confirm the steam inlet pressure to the heaters. A4: We can provide up to 13lbs of steam. Currently at 7-8lbs. Q5: The SOW states “all removed materials will be left on site” and “Government will dispose of all refuse.” Please clarify the expected level of demolition and material handling by the contractor. Will removed materials need to be transported to a designated dumpster location, or may they remain within the mechanical room for removal and disposal by others? A5: All parts/materials removed will be left within the mechanical room. No more than 30ft away from work area. Q6: Please confirm whether press-type fittings are acceptable for use on the water piping systems. A6: Press type fittings are acceptable. Q7: Please confirm whether Buy American provisions apply to this project and, if applicable, identify the governing FAR clause (i.e., FAR 52.225-9 or equivalent). A7: 52.225-9 is applicable and in the RFQ. Q8: Please confirm that piping replacement is only required as necessary to reconnect the new heaters. A8: The heat exchanges might call for upsized piping, so it's difficult to answer this. ***End of Amendment 3*** ***Amendment 2*** RFQ is a total small business set aside. ***End of Amendment 2*** ***Amendment 1*** Update provision, 52.212-2 Evaluation—Commercial Products and Commercial Services.
