PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The scope of this requirement includes the cleaning, prepping, and painting the spillway machinery at all twelve (12) gates with one consistent coating. While following work restrictions below, the contractor will remove all coating that is not tightly adhered to the steel substrate and repair any existing corrosion. The final surface must be brought back to like new conditions. The use of power shrouded tools with vacuum collection must be used to meet the requirements of SSPC-SP-3 (Power Tool Cleaning) Surface Preparation and meet the requirements of lead collection and disposal. Where SSPC-SP-3 is not physically possible, the contractor must still perform SSPC-SP-1 and the prescribed coating system. Minimum Technical Requirements" and "Critical Features of Work: The following work restrictions must apply to the contractor. 1. The contractor must not disassemble any “active machinery components” including motors, gearboxes, bearings, or similar equipment. 2. The contractor may remove machinery covers, guards, and other non-active components as required to coat the machinery as much as possible. 3. The contractor may utilize the project's intake gantry crane and spillway maintenance platform as required. 4. No more than three gates must be out of service at any given time. 5. The Contractor must coordinate with project staff for the placement of bulkheads to allow the gate to be raised and provide access to all machinery components that require coating. 6. The Corps must always have access to the intake crane for maintenance and emergencies. The anticipated period of performance for the contract is approximately 450 calendar days from the notice to proceed. This description is not intended to be all encompassing and is subject to change. No solicitation document exists at this time. The plans and specifications will be available with the solicitation announcement.
