The Frances Perkins Building's public meeting spaces are widely used for internal and external engagements, making their appearance and functionality critical to supporting a professional and welcoming environment. To enhance the overall aesthetics and usability of these areas, the Department intends to upgrade several design elements, including new curtains, updated carpeting, lighting, Audio/Visual (AV) systems, and other enhancements that will contribute to a modern, cohesive and visually appealing space. Improvements to the Great Hall, Auditorium and Mezzanine will support a more efficient, comfortable and representative setting for employees, stakeholders, and visitors. Moreover, the modernization of the aging AV systems is critical to hosting virtual and hybrid meetings, press engagements, leadership communications, training, and public events. Many existing systems are beyond end-of-life, lack vendor support, and do not meet modern collaboration needs such as Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR), Webex, and Zoom integration. This project will modernize these environments to ensure compliance, accessibility, and reliability. For purposes of this procurement, “modernization” refers to a comprehensive overhaul of the Frances Perkins Building's Great Hall, Auditorium, and Mezzanine that includes both technological and physical space improvements.
