Interested prospective contractors are invited to reply to any or all the following. Background: As part of an ongoing process to reduce facility water consumption, the Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (UMESC) is planning on replacing multiple water-cooled chillers serving Segments A, B and C of the main building Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems with air-cooled units. Segments A, B and C chilled water is currently provided by a Multistack Maglev water cooled chiller (Model MS0292FC1M2W2H1CC66FL-R134A) in Room C-111m. An additional Dedicated Heat Recovery Chiller (DHRC) chiller (Model MS030XC2H2H2AAC-R410A) located in the same room is no longer used. This project would involve removing both the Maglev unit and the DHRC unit and installing a new outdoor chiller system capable of providing sufficient cooling capacity to make up for any losses in system efficiency. Due to risks of freezing weather, and because temperatures in transition months are highly variable, it is intended that the new system be configured to not require draining of the chilled water lines as a means of winterizing the chilled water loop to prevent damage to the new chiller or its primary piping circuit. Scope of Services: The estimated magnitude of this construction project is between $.75M and $1.5M. To eliminate the need for draining the chilled water lines as part of winterizing the new system, interested parties may propose a new chi…
