The VISN 17 Center of Excellence, located at 4800 Memorial Drive, Building 93, MRI W93, Waco, TX 76711 has requested an MRI Compatible Projector. Vendor will provide a system that meets the outlined specifications below. Additionally, vendor will provide training for Techs and other designated personnel. The center requires the Hyperion 2 projection system from Psychology Software Tools (PST) specifically. It is designed to display visual stimuli in an MRI environment. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) utilizes powerful magnetic fields, which can be dangerous to people and machinery if the equipment is not properly engineered and tested. The projector s electrical components and stands must be built from non-magnetic materials and must work with a system of mirrors to allow the participant to view visual displays while in the middle of the MR machine. As you can imagine this is problematic for computerized machinery, particularly since all components and cables must also be shielded by radio-frequency pulses sent out by the MR machine. Due to these difficulties and strict safety guidelines, few companies produce MRI compatible visual display systems.
