Bill Young VA Medical Center Veterans Hospital, 10,000 Bay Pines Blvd Bay Pines, FL  33744, has a requirement for a new Raizer II Battery Mobile Lifting Chair Name Brand or Equal, and slings for patient lifts. BACKGROUND: Outpatient clinics frequently experience patient falls involving individuals who cannot independently stand but are otherwise medically stable. Staff rely on manual lifting techniques that place them at high risk for injury and violate SPHM principles. This provides a controlled, mechanical method to raise a fallen patient from the floor to a seated position without manual lifting. Fall recovery in CBOCS involves nursing assisting the veteran to a standing position or calling 911. Some patients just want nurses to assist them into a standing position after they have been cleared to get up. When staff allow a veteran to pull them on, we cannot control how much weight they are putting on staff. Fall recovery is mandated by Directive 1611 to have equipment. CBOCs do not have fall recovery equipment because they do not have the space. They need a recovery chair that is low profile. The raiser chair was chosen after market research was completed.
