The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate and award a contract without providing for full and open competition (Including brand-name) to: BIO-RAD LABORATORIES 2000 Alfred Nobel Drive Hercules, CA 94547 NORTH AMERICAN INDUSTRY CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (NAICS) CODE The intended procurement is classified under NAICS code 334516 with a Size Standard $1000. REGULATORY AUTHORITY The resultant contract will include all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through the Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2026-01, March 13, 2026. This acquisition is conducted under the procedures as prescribed in FAR subpart 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures at an amount not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold ($350,000). STATUTORY AUTHORITY This acquisition is conducted under the authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.106-1 (b) (1), Soliciting from a single source and is not expected to exceed the simplified acquisition threshold. GENERAL INFORMATION Title: Acquisition of a Bio-Rad ChemiDoc Imaging System for the Genitourinary Malignancies Branch (NCI/CCR/GMB) Background Information: The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), Genitourinary Malignancies Branch (GMB) requires the procurement of a Bio-Rad ChemiDoc Go Imaging System to support prostate cancer research. The GMB laboratories currently rely on the imaging system for visualization of chemiluminescent western blots and agarose gels. This system is no longer functional due to failure of the UV illumination drawer, and the manufacturer has discontinued support, making repair impossible. This instrument is used by over 10 researchers and is essential for routine laboratory workflows. Imaging of western blots and agarose gels is a fundamental requirement in modern molecular and cell biology research.
