Installation ZURN 10” Model 375DA, Backflow Preventers Site Visit for this project will be 7 July 2026 at 10AM Address: 5401 East Lake Blvd Birmingham AL 35217 Bldg. 700 Civil Engineering Classroom Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to get access to the base. Part 1 – GENERAL 1.1 Project Identification 1.1.1 The General Provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and General Requirements (if any), apply to all work specified in this document. 1.2 Scope of Work 1.2.1 General Description The contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to complete the following tasks: 2.1 Site Assessment Inspect existing backflow prevention assemblies and surrounding piping adjacent to B130. Verify system shutoff points and confirm compatibility of replacement units. Identify any code compliance issues requiring correction. 2.2 Removal of Existing Backflow Preventers Safely shut down water supply to affected lines. Remove two existing backflow prevention assemblies. Dispose of old units in accordance with local regulations. 2.3 Installation of New Backflow Prevention Assemblies Furnish and install two new backflow prevention assemblies of the specified type (ZURN 10” Model 375DA, please attachment 1 for specs and details). Install all necessary fittings, valves, supports, and insulation. Ensure proper orientation, clearance, and accessibility for future testing and maintenance. Restore water service and verify system integrity. 2.4 Testing and Certification Perform initial testing of both assemblies using certified backflow testing equipment. Provide official test reports as required by local water authority. Affix test tags to each device. 1.6 Site Cleanup Thoroughly clean the work area of dust, dirt, and debris. Restore the area to its original condition. Follow ANGETL, ANG Handbook, and Unified Facilities Criteria throughout the project. Notify the Contracting Officer immediately if work outside the scope is requested. No additional work shall begin without written authorization. Cost increases beyond the original budget estimate will not justify additional fees unless caused by an approved scope change. 1.7 Contract Responsibilities The contractor shall: Contract directly with the Contracting Officer. Provide and pay for all labor, materials, equipment, tools, and machinery. Issue all required notices and comply with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. Notify the Contracting Officer immediately if work outside the scope is requested. No additional work shall begin without written authorization. Cost increases beyond the original budget estimate will not justify additional fees unless caused by an approved scope change. Notify the Contracting Officer in writing of any observed variances between contract documents and legal requirements.
