The types of extinguishers vary by facility requirements. Most buildings and vehicles use dry chemical extinguishers (Types ABC or K), while server rooms require CO₂ extinguishers. Maintenance requirements differ by extinguisher type. All extinguishers must receive an annual visual inspection and tagging in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.157(e)(2). Additionally, based on the manufacturing date, dry chemical extinguishers require either a 6‑year recharge or a 12‑year hydrostatic test. Proper performance of these services is essential to sustaining operations. Failure to maintain and service the extinguishers could disrupt mission activities, lead to facility closures, and increase the risk of property loss due to inoperable equipment and the inability to suppress a fire when needed. THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) is solely for information and planning purposes. It does not constitute a Request for Quote (RFQ) or a promise to issue an RFQ in the future. Further, MICC is not at this time seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals.
